Years before I began painting on canvas, I made art by manipulating my digital photographs of our daylilies and creating custom frames to complete the pieces. Thus, they told stories beyond being splashes of color in a garden for a day. I called this project Gilding the Lily.
I do have a special affinity for Daylilies. In our house in Souderton, I planted over 90 varieties. I have painted several and will continue to do, I suspect.
Going Native is all about restoring and preserving habitat for birds and animals, as well as for addressing global warming. Native plants use fewer resources, water and energy to maintain, and help replenish oxygen, etc. They also sustain birds, bees and butterflies.
